All is set for the inaugural edition of the Nigeria Transport Sector Summit, an annual forum that will bring together key industry players, regulators, and stakeholders to discuss critical issues affecting the development of Nigeria’s transportation sector.
The summit, organized by the Transportation Correspondents Association of Nigeria (TCAN), will focus on the theme, ”Intermodal Transport: Prospects and Challenges”.
In a statement released on Monday by TCAN Chairman Mr. Yinka Aderibigbe and the event’s Organising Committee Chairman Mr. Rasheed Bisiriyu, it was confirmed that the summit will take place on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the Radisson Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.
The Minister of Transportation, Senator Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali, will officially declare the summit open, while former Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, is set to deliver the keynote address.
The statement emphasized: “The focus on intermodal transportation for this maiden edition is intentional. It aims to unite stakeholders across all subsectors of the transport industry, encouraging collaboration rather than fragmented efforts that may hinder the goal of providing alternative travel modes for the Nigerian public.
“This approach will lead to increased efficiency, cost reductions, operational flexibility, and a decrease in carbon emissions—aligning with global efforts toward cleaner environmental practices that benefit all.”
TCAN also revealed that a carefully selected panel of speakers will delve into the summit’s theme, covering topics related to railways, roads, inland waterways, and aviation.
Additionally, one of the event’s highlights will be the formal unveiling of an industry journal produced by TCAN.
