An Osogbo Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osun , on Tuesday , ordered that a driver, Kazeem Wasiu, be remanded in Ilesa correctional centre for alleged manslaughter.
The police charged Wasiu with dangerous driving ; non possession of drivers licence; causing the death of a victim ; driving without road worthiness and insurance certificate .
Magisrate O. A. Daramola, gave the order due to the nature of the offence.
Daramola , therefore , adjourned the case to April 4 , pending a formal bail application by a legal aid representative.
Earlier , the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Jacob Akintunde told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb. 19, at about 8.30 p.m, in Osogbo .
Akintunde said the defendant drove a Mitsubishi bus with number plate RLG 799 XA , in a dangerous manner, causing the death of Gabriel M.
He also said the defendant had no driver’s licence, road worthiness and insurance certificate when he was arrested by the police.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 139 , 27 , 142, 18 and 548 of the Road Traffic Act , Laws of Nigeria , 2015.
The defendant had no legal representation when his case was called by the court clerk .
