Alia inaugurates governing councils of tertiary institutions in Benue
…Tasks them on dedication, commitment

Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has inaugurated the governing councils of tertiary institutions in the state, tasking them to be dedicated and committed in the discharge of their duties.
The governor performed the ceremony on Friday at the Old Banquet Hall, Government House, Makurdi.
Alia charged the newly inaugurated members to use their wealth of experience to bear on the new assignment given to them.
“Your selection was based on your records of activities and moral soundness. I have no doubt that you will use your wealth of experience to uplift the standard of tertiary education in the state,” he said.
Responding on behalf of the council members, the Chairman and Pro Chancellor of Benue State University, Makurdi, Sir Paul Chukwuma, appreciated Governor Alia for finding them worthy of the responsibility.
“We accept this responsibility with gratitude and promise to work harmoniously with the heads of the institutions to uplift the standard of tertiary education in the state,” he said.
The governor also urged the council members to be dedicated and committed in the discharge of their duties.
“I charge you to be dedicated and committed in the discharge of your duties. Your selection was based on your records of activities and moral soundness. I have no doubt that you will use your wealth of experience to bear on the new assignment given to you,” he said.
The inauguration was witnessed by the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Barr. Sam Ode Mni, commissioners, advisers, and many top government functionaries.
Among those inaugurated were Sir Paul Chukwuma as Chairman of Benue State University, Makurdi, Prof. Shagbaor Francis Weigh, Barr. Simon Orkuma, Dr. Diana Agbemu Ochoga, Michael Terwase Gongul, Dr. Michael Achadu, and Prof. Ayangeadoo Hur-Yagba as members.
At Benue State Polytechnic Ugbokolo, Dr.Damian Tersoo Anyam was inaugurated as Chairman, while Hon. Sam Godday, Dr. Kadev Kenneth Kelvin, Dr. Regina Nyitar, and Hon. Peter Egbedo were inaugurated as members.
Akawe Torkula Polytechnic, Makurdi, has Prof. Okpeh O. Okpeh as Chairman, while Engr. Bitacy Jirgba, Dr. Yvonne Shiminenge A time, Hon. Edo Egboga, and Hon. Achihin Hur were inaugurated as members.
Akperan Orshi Polytechnic, Yandev, has Dr. Victoria Pillah as Chairman, while Mr. Samuel Agwa, Mr. Nicholas Ugallahi, Mrs Theresa Ikwe, and Mr. Joseph Adi were inaugurated as members.
College of Education, Oju, has Prof. Member George Genyi as Chairman, while Prof. Emmanuel Eriba Otor, Prof. Joseph Kerker, Habiba Musa Uchefu, and Rev. Fr. Elijah Sende were inaugurated as members.
College of Education Katsina-ala has Prof. Ukertor Gabriel Morti as Chairman, while Chief Johnson Onoja, Ekwo Victoria Iyawo, Moses Tsegba, and Mrs. Patience Iorun were inaugurated as members.
Benue State College of Health Technology, Agasha, has Dr. Bem Vangerwua as Chairman, while Dr. Silas Ge, Mrs. Alice Yaaju, Rebecca Tor, and Comfort Anongu were inaugurated as members.
