Akwa Ibom: Labour Party describes selling party’s ticket as untrue

The Labour Party in Akwa Ibom has debunked the speculations making the rounds that, it’s gubernatorial candidate, Mr. Uduakobong Peter Udo has sold his ticket to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the State.

The Director – General, Presidential Campaign Council, Obi – Datti, Captain Augustine Okon made this known at a press conference in Uyo on Monday.

He said, ” even though we have been raped and robbed in the last presidential election, Labour Party in Akwa Ibom remains strong and intact.

“That our Governorship candidate and a Computer Scientist, Uduakobong Peter Udo is not negotiating the party’s ticket.

“We can quarranty our supporters and members that, he will run for the office of the Governor and win come Saturday March 11, 23 and after wining, would turn things around in Akwa Ibom State.

” No one person can sell our party to another person or another party and I am here to say that, our Governorship candidate like our principal, Peter Obi will put the state in the path of progress”.

Captain Okon, who called on all ” Obi-Datti supporters to come out en-masse to vote the Governorship candidate, Mr. Uduakobong Peter Udo on Saturday regretted the propaganda being spewed said, the Labour Party is like a pseunami and promised to sweep all the positions.

He said, if there is anybody that wants to negotiate with the party, they should come but the would not go down for anyone.

Also speaking, the Governorship candidate, Udo appreciated the support of Nigerian voters for the party during the last election saying that, the party made an excellent performance by winning Uyo, Eket Senatorial Districts and some part of Ikot Ekpene.

He said, though that effort failed short due to undue rigging influence of the PDP assured Nigerians not to worry, as Peter Obi is doing everything possible to challenge that result in court to reclaim his victory.

According to him, “I was carefully choose by the party and cannot betray Akwa Ibom people.

” I know some of those politicians whose stuck in trade is to go round trying to defraud others but, when you do not succumb to their antics, they resort to blackmail.

“We don’t have the money to throw around and we too do not have the time to join in issues with them.

“I assure Akwa Ibom people not to be distracted that, Labour Party is conniving with the PDP is not possible, when we won them.

“Voters want to pay back again on Saturday with anger for that rape they meted against the Labour Party.

“PDP have over stayed in Government for 24 year’s and are afraid that, Labour Party is coming to take over the state”.

He maintained that, he drew strength from God and support from Akwa Ibom people as he works in unison with the PCC to expand the Obi-Datti Campaigns across the state.

The State Vice-chairman of LP, Mr. Iniobong Nyong also corroborated the fact that, the rumour that, LP was negotiating the party’s ticket with others stating that, it was entirely a gimmick to present their party.
