Akwa Ibom Gov’s wife felicitates PDP women, charges them on PVC collection

Akwa Ibom first lady, Mrs. Martha Emmanuel has felicitated the women of  Uyo Senatorial District for their endorsement of all the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

The Governor’s wife made this known at endorsement rally organised by the PDP women of Uyo yesterday, charging them to get their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) currently issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

She thanked them for naming the proposed women Secretariat after her and promised to support the project to fruition.

President of Uyo Senatorial District Women Forum, Dr. Ekaete Ebong Okon in her remarks thanked Mrs. Emmanuel for giving women a voice in the state.

She said the forum was mobilising support for all the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state in the forthcoming elections.

Dr. Okon said the forum was providing a platform for their voices to be heard, while they also want their demands and aspirations to be met.

She said though the group is young but, it has grown in leaps and bounds supporting all that their husbands are doing in the party.

The group also used the occasion to raise funds for the building of women secretariat in the zone to be named: “Martha Leadership Academy” after the Governor’s wife.

They thanked the Governor’s wife, Martha for her support to the women in the state.

According to them, “Sixteen years of waiting has brought great joy as we take our share of the cake of an auspicious opportunity to serve the people of this great state and, for a woman as Deputy Governor.”

The PDP governorship candidate, Pst. Umo Eno thanked them for the honour done to the party’s candidates and assured that, the incoming government in the state would continue to work with women.
