Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has announced plans to establish a food security committee to ensure food sufficiency in the state.
Governor Eno made this announcement during the inauguration of a Professorial Chair in Soil Science at the University of Uyo, in honour of Professor Trenchad Ibia, who recently retired from the Department of Soil Science and Land Resources Management.
Eno stated that professionals, including Professor Ibia, would be part of the committee to achieve effective results. He congratulated Professor Ibia on the honour conferred by the Department and the University of Uyo, calling it well-deserved.
The Governor expressed appreciation for Professor Ibia’s significant contributions during his gubernatorial campaign, highlighting Ibia’s key role in shaping his economic development blueprint, the ARISE Agenda.
Governor Eno, pleased to be an ambassador of the institution, pledged to strengthen partnerships with the University of Uyo and other professionals to support the development of Akwa Ibom State.
