AKISU 13th Matriculation: 2,890 students vow to adhere to varsity rules, regulations

As the Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU), moves towards fulfilling its mandate of training students for the manpower growth of the country, a total of 2,890 freshmen and women have sworn to adhere to the rules and regulations of the Institution.

The students which comprised 1463 male 1,427 female, took the matriculation oath at the 13th matriculation ceremony of the university which recently took place at the main campus, Ikot Akpaden in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State where they were warned by management to resist the temptation of enlistment into cultism and resorting to examination misconduct.

Addressing the new intakes at the event, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Nse Essien said the 2022/2023 session matriculation ceremony, was to allow students subscribed to the matriculation oath and be formally admitted into the Institution where they would enjoy all rights and privileges of Akwa Ibom State University which choice was clear confirmation of their confidence as a citadel of excellence.

“May I assure you that choosing Akwa Ibom State University, is a clear confirmation of your confidence in our university as a citadel of excellence,” he said.

The Vice Chancellor told the new intakes that as they commence their studies in the institution, pursuing higher education was no mean feat as it required dedication, hardwork, and the willingness to oneself beyond limits, even as he acknowledged the fact that they have the potential to succeed.

“As you begin your studies, note that pursuing higher education is no easy feat. It requires dedication, hardwork and willingness to push oneself beyond limits. I however have no doubt that each and everyone of you has the potential to succeed and make the most of your time hear,” Essien noted.

He who charged them to set ambitions goals, also urged them to embrace new experiences and perspectives to approach their studies with curiosity and thirst for knowledge. “ Remember that your time here is a precious and valuable opportunity and it is up to you to make the most use of it.”

Professor maintained that to achieve the task set before them, they were expected to abide by the rules and regulations as the university “will not condone students involvement in cultism, examination misconducts, indecent dressing among other vices.

“In particular, cult groups and its membership are highly prohibited and any student caught operating in cult activities will be expelled. Akwa Ibom State University has zero tolerance for any form of misconduct and will not hesited to sanction anyone found culpable,” the VC warned.

He told the gathering that the institution has put in place good facilities and resources, machineries to provide comfort and conducive learning environment for sports development and worship centres to enable them achieve their educational, recreation and spiritual goals in the university.

Essien stressed on on the need for registration which he statedvwas the first step towards the actualisation into the university, the importance of students information handbook, which explained the rules and regulations to guide their conducts and the use of social media and warned that no student should publish anything concerning the university without obtaining approval from the management through the registrar.

The Vice Chancellor assured that management would continue to work round the clock to protect the lives and property even as students should be security conscious.
