Akeredolu eulogises Gen. Olutoye at 90, says he’s symbol of peace

Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, on Tuesday, extolled the virtues of a retired Major-General and Alani of Ido-Ani, Oba Olufemi Olutoye, describing him as a symbol of peace.

Akeredolu stated this at the 90th birthday thanksgiving service, held for the royal father at Cathedral Church of Holy Trinity, Ido-Ani.

The governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, described the former Federal Commissioner for Social Development, Youth and Sports noted that Olutoye had contributed his quota to the development of the state and the country in general.

He stressed the need for the youth to always emulate the virtues of older personalities, who had, in one way or the other, impacted positively on the lives of the people.

The governor said that he would continue to fulfill his campaign promises through execution of life-impacting projects for the people of the state.

On his administration’s efforts on road constructions in the state, Akeredolu disclosed that the road linking Afo to Ido-Ani had been awarded and assured of its completion very soon.

“This celebration is a time to give thanks to God for making our royal father reach the age of 90. We in Ondo State are happy for him; we pray for him to continue enjoying good health.

“On the construction of roads in this area, I want to tell you that the roads had been awarded to contractors. All our election promises are being fulfilled,” Akeredolu said.

In his sermon, Bishop of Ido-Ani Anglican Diocese, Rt. Rev. Adegoke Oludare, advised Nigerians to always rejoice in the Lord, no matter the circumstance, in order to receive God’s blessings.

In his remarks, Oba Olutoye’s son, Prof. Oluyinka Olutoye, said that the family had decided to set up a scholarship scheme for SS II students in the town as a mark of honour for the retired general.
