Agency trains staff on manpower development, efficient service delivery
The Plateau Peace Building Agency (PPBA), has begun a two-day training for its members of staff on manpower development and efficient service delivery in the state.
Mr Joseph Lengmang, the Director-General of the agency said on Thursday in Jos that the training, which was first of its kind was aimed at equipping its staff with requisite knowledge of administration.
Lengmang added that the training would further spur staff of the agency toward the actualisation of its mandate of promoting peace and tranquility in the state.
He described the agency as a “baby organisation’’, adding that its staff still had a lot to learn in achieving its mandate.
“This agency was established five years ago by our amiable and peace loving governor with the sole aim of creating a platform for conflict resolution and promoting a peaceful and harmonious society.
“To actualise this mandate, trainings like this become very key.
“And because we are a baby organisation, it simply means we still have a lot to learn,’’ he said.
Lengmang thanked Gov. Simon Lalong for approving the training as well as the support the state government had so far rendered to the agency to achieve its mandate.
The director-general said that the training was being supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft Fur Internationale Zusammenerbeit (GIZ), under its Peace Core project.
Declaring the event open, Mr Izam Azi, the Head of Civil Service of the state, said the training was timely.
Represented by Mrs Sarah Ngocha, the Director of Training in the Cabinet Office, Azi said the training would keep the staff abreast with contemporary issues facing civil servants in the country.
“This training is key considering the roles you are playing in peace building in this state and beyond.
“This will keep you abreast with contemporary issues and challenges that peace administrators are confronted with daily in due discharge of their functions.
“I implore you to take advantage of this exercise and update yourselves with the rudiments of your career because government expects nothing but the best from you,’’ she said.
Report says that the two-day training has the theme: “Training and Manpower Development for Better Service Delivery’’.
