Aftermath Of APC Presidential Rally: Osun APC condemns Adeleke’s removal, destruction of Tinubu/Shettima’s campaign billboards, posters in Osogbo
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the government’s removal and destruction of the campaign posters and billboards of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign along some roads in Osogbo.
It would be recalled that the campaign train of Tinubu/Shettima Presidential ambition made a superlative outing in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Thursday.
It was learnt that the state Governor Ademola Adeleke and the leadership of the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were jolted, worried and scared by the superlative success of the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidential campaign rally in Osogbo.
A source close to the government who craved for anonymity disclosed that Adeleke and his handlers were worried that despite the fact that the PDP tried all possible means to frustrate the successful holding of the rally by giving a directive suspending the statewide activities of both commercial motors and motorcycles, the contrary was the case.
It was learnt that shortly after the end of the presidential rally which was held at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park in Osogbo which was filled up beyond capacity, some of the kitchen cabinet members of the sacked governor hurriedly held a meeting where it was resolved that all the campaign posters and billboards of Tinubu/Shettima should be removed immediately.
It was gathered that the government operatives that carried out the removal of the campaign posters took off from the office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and settled down to business immediately.
Some of the government workers who were commissioned to carry out the illegal removal and destruction of the posters and billboards of Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign were sighted in the broad daylight in Osogbo on Friday.
In his statement issued in Osogbo, the state APC acting chairman said, the Osun State Government’s directive to destroy the billboards and posters of the APC presidential candidate was nothing but poilitcs with bitterness.
Lawal questioned why the embattled Governor Ademola cannot embrace playing of politics with tolerance as the sky is wide enough to accommodate so many birds to engage in a flying competition?
The state APC chairman wondered the kind of example that the PDP governor is laying down for the people especially the younger ones.
He stated further that the removal of Tinubu’s posters and billboards by Adeleke is an indication that the governor and his party are jittery over the number of the attendees at the APC presidential candidate’s rally in Osogbo.
Lawal told Adeleke that there is nothing that Adeleke and his intolerant PDP members could do that would inhibit or prevent the success of Asiwaju Tinubu at the polls on February 25th, 2023.
The Acting State APC chairman stated that the destruction of the campaign posters and billboards is further demarketing, depopularizing and stigmatizing the PDP and Ademola as bellicose entities who could not withstand the opposition in a supposedly democratic government.
