After years on the run, NDLEA nabs most wanted Lagos drug baron
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has finally apprehended Sulaiman Jimoh, alias Olowoidiogede, popularly known as Temo, the overall head of the Mushin, Lagos drug cartel, after years of evading arrest.
Temo, 57, was arrested at his enclave in Igbarere street, Mushin, Lagos State, on Monday, July 22, 2024, after a long-standing cat-and-mouse game with the NDLEA.
This was contained in a statement on Wednesday by the agency’s spokesman, Mr. Femi Babafemi.
He said Temo was notorious for always being on the move to evade arrest, but with persistence and determination, aided by modern tools and intelligence, the concerted effort to get him paid off.
According to Babafemi, Temo’s attempt to escape by mobilising hoodlums to engage and distract the operatives failed, and he was overpowered and whisked away from the chaotic scene.
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brig-Gen. Mohamed Marwa (Rtd), commended the officers and men of the Lagos State Command for their resilience, vigilance, and professionalism, saying, “I am particularly delighted because the arrest was eventually effected in his enclave without any casualty despite the attack on our men.”
Marwa urged the operatives to intensify the heat on all drug cartels, adding, “I am sending a clear message to others still involved in this criminal trade of illicit drugs that if they don’t opt out now, we’ll get them because we’re just steps away from their doorsteps and more importantly, they can only run, they can’t hide forever.”
