African Nations Volleyball Championship: Unbeaten Cameroon spank Nigeria’s under-18 girls again

Cameroon’s under-18 girls on Monday defeated their Nigerian counterparts 3-0 for the third time in four days at the African Nations Volleyball Championship in Abuja.

Reports said that, in the match played at the indoor sports hall of the Moshood Abiola  National Stadium, Cameroon won 25 -17, 25-21, 25-23.

The two teams are the only ones around for the competition and have now qualified for the next World Cup championship which will hold in Mexico later this year.

Speaking after the match, Cameroon’s coach Emile Tong Tong said: “This is the third time we are beating Nigeria right here in their home. We have enjoyed our games with Nigeria team and we have set a pace.

“We worked hard for this championship, and we saw the good results which have been fruitful.

“We have learnt a lot of things in our game with Nigeria. The competition was also well organised, in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic all over the world,” he said.

Oh his part, coach of the Nigerian team, Elishama Elam, said his team still played a very good game in spite of the defeat.

“They have learnt a lot of skills from their three games which they are going to go and make better, or improve.

“With a lot of camping next time we will perform very well,” he said.

Reports state that the Under-18 Girls and Under-19 Boys African Nations Volleyball Championship which started on Thursday ended on Monday.
