Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman says the Super Eagles will be up for the battle against hosts Cote d’Ivoire in their second game at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Jose Peseiro’s men will be up against the the Elephants at the Alassanne Quattara Stadium, Ebimpe, Abidjan, on Thursday.
The Super Eagles held the the Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea to a 1-1 draw in their opening fixture.
The three-time winners must avoid defeat against the Elephants to boost their chances of making it to the next round.
Lookman reckoned Jean Louis Gasset’s side will be a tough nut to crack but is upbeat the Super Eagles will come out victorious.
“It’s going to be a tough game but I want to say we are ready for the fight. It’s never easy to play against the hosts in a competition like this,” Lookman told DAILY POST in an exclusive chat in Abidjan.
“It’s a game we can’t afford to lose and will give our best to make our fans happy.
“Ivory Coast have a strong squad like us, but we are ready for the battle and will make sure we win the game.”
The encounter will kick off at 6:00 pm Nigeria time.
