AFCON 2021: Super Eagles could face Algeria, Senegal, Tunisia in Round of 16

Nigeria could face a tough round-of-16 clash at the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

There are possibilities of the Super Eagles taking on any of, Senegal or Tunisia for a place in the quarter-finals.

Augustine Eguavoen’s men currently have six points from their first two fixtures and have already won Group D no matter the results in the final round of games.

This is because they enjoy a better head-to-head record against Egypt, who are expected to clinch the other qualification ticket.

But due to a few shock results involving the top teams thus far, the AFCON round of 16 could now see Nigeria square up against tournament favourites, Algeria or Senegal.

Equatorial Guinea recorded a shock 1-0 win over defending champions Algeria on Sunday night, while Senegal were held to a 1-1 draw by Sierra Leone.

According to the fixture schedule, Nigeria will play the best losers from Group B, E, or F.

Algeria are in Group B, Senegal are in Group E and Tunisia are in Group F.
