AFCON 2021: Egypt breaks Nigeria’s record after qualifying for semi-finals

Egypt came from behind to beat Morocco 2-1 in their quarter-final clash at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah equalized and then set up the winner for the Pharaohs, as the seven-time champions progressed into the last four.

This result means Egypt now holds the record for the most semi-final appearances ever.

They have surpassed Nigeria’s record, as this is their 16th time playing in the semi-finals.

Salah and co will now meet hosts, Cameroon on Thursday for a place in the final.

This is Egypt’s first semi-final appearance since the 2017 edition.
