The Vice Chancellor of Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State, Prof. Olukayode Amund, has called on traditional rulers to continue to advise government at all levels on the needs of their people so that government can be more responsive in the country.
Prof. Amund, who made the call on Thursday while receiving the Ondo state traditional rulers under the auspices of “130 Crowns Club” at the institution’s campus, Ilara-Mokin, said traditional rulers are complimentary to government and they should continue to support and advise the government on what to do.
While thanking the founder and Visitor to the university, Chief Michael Ade-Ojo for the world class infrastructure he has funded and continues to fund in the university, the VC, therefore said the institution was doing very well both at the national and international level.
Speaking on their visit, Amund said, “There is a meeting of council of Obas in Ondo state being hosted by Alara of Ilara-Mokin, and before they settle down for the meeting, they wanted to tour our environment to see our ongoing giants strides infrastructure and to say hello.
“Traditional rulers, they have interest in every aspect of human lives both education, agriculture, development, health and others so when they came to an environment like this to know what is going on there, they can also encourage the government to support the initiative of the people because this is a private initiative.”
Speaking on behalf of the traditional, the President of the 130 Crowns Club, Oba (Dr) Omoniyi Olufunmilayo who is the Akapinsa of Ipinsa, said, “We came to this university to see and appreciate what Chief Micheal Ade-Ojo has done to Ondo state, Ilara-Mokin in particular because he has made a rapid development in this community by establishing this university.”
Oba Olufunmilayo, therefore, advised his co-traditional rulers across the states to continue encourage youths to put more interest in education rather than riding okada.
According to him, government at all levels also needs a lot to do by engaging these youths through jobs creation
