Aderiye urges parents, teachers to ensure qualitative education of pupils

The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Dr. Olabimpe Aderiye has charged both parents and teachers to be focused, diligent and alive to their responsibilities in the task of ensuring qualitative education for school children in the state.

This is as Primary and Secondary schools in Ekiti State resumed academic activities, on Monday for the 2021/22 academic session,

Dr. Aderiye who gave the charge in Ado Ekiti assured that the state government is adequately prepared for the new session and would leave no stone unturned towards ensuring a successful academic year.

However, reiterating the commitment of the Fayemi-led administration to the provision of free qualitative and compulsory education up to Senior Secondary School level; Aderiye said that the government would continue to monitor activities in schools to guarantee global best practices.

Moreover, she highlighted the academic calendar rolled out by the State Government through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology for the 2021/22 academic session as 1st Term to commence on Monday 6th September, 2021 with a 14-week duration and end on Friday, 10th December, 2021, noting that there would however be a one-week mid-term holiday from Friday 12th November to Saturday, 20th November, 2021.

According to her, there will be a 3-week 1st term holiday from Saturday 11th December, 2021 to Sunday 2nd January, 2022, while the 2nd term will commence on Monday 3rd January, 2022 to Friday 8th April, 2022 with a two-day mid-term holiday in between from Thursday 17th February to Friday 18th February, 2022.

The Commissioner said that the 3rd term would commence on Monday 2nd May, 2022 and end on Friday 29th July, 2022, with a 2-day mid-term holiday from Thursday 9th June to Friday 10th June, 2022, adding that the school year would close with a six-week holiday from Saturday 30th July, to Sunday 11th September, 2022.

Stressing that school authorities have been directed to commence full academic work in all schools on the first day of each term, Aderiye, however noted that all National public holidays should be observed as may be directed by the Federal Government.
