The House of Representatives candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Engr. Benjamin Adereti has congratulated former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on his victory at the Election Petition Tribunal in Osogbo.

Adereti in a congratulatory message, described the victory as a well deserved one and for the people of Osun State.

He said the tribunal reaffirmed mandate freely given him by the people of the state, the statement noting that the former Governor believes in judiciary as the last hope of common man which made him to have approached the court to retrieve his stolen mandate.

“I want to congratulate our amiable and people oriented governor. Your Excellency, your victory at the tribunal is a well deserved victory. This victory is also a victory for all the progressive family and members in Osun state and Nigeria as a whole.

“Once again, we are indeed blessed and delighted that you are coming back to finish the good works you started in your first term. This victory is a preparation for the grand victory coming on February 25th in the forth coming general elections”.

The tribunal while delivering a majority decision vote, Justice Tetsea Kume ruled that INEC did not comply substantially with the constitution and the provisions of the Electoral Act.

He subsequently deducted the over-voting observed from the votes scored by the candidates and declared that Oyetola won the election, having polled 314, 921, while Adeleke’s score came down to 290, 266.

He directed INEC to withdraw Adeleke’s certificate of return and issue another one to Oyetola who won a majority of the lawful votes.
