The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the allocation of additional 253 operational vehicles to the Nigerian Police.
The group noted that the recent order by the Inspector General Police, Usman Baba for the distribution of additional batches of uniforms, kits, accoutrements and body armours, along with the newly-acquired vehicles, is a clear demonstration of the President’s determination to equip the Nigerian Police adequately.
In a statement signed by its Chairman Niyi Akinsiju and Secretary Cassidy Madueke, the group said this is also in line with the President’s three-pronged agenda of security, economy and anti-corruption.
“We believe that this equipment and vehicles which will be distributed among the police rank and file across all formations will greatly enhance their operational capabilities, efficiency and service to the country. It will also boost the morale of the personnel of the Nigerian Police, their welfare and conditions of service.
“The allocation of these vehicles and other operational equipment to the Nigerian Police is coming on the heels of the recent rumour of police personnel embarking on a nationwide industrial action. Definitely, this move is not only timely but proactive and responsive on the part of the Nigerian Police.”
The Police authorities had distributed 110 Land cruisers, buffalo trucks, 37 Mikano pick-up trucks, 20 NORD Max trucks, 18 Mikano lorries, five Armoured Personnel Carriers, and 33 Innoson Carrier pick-ups trucks, among others.
