
Adamawa NUJ inaugurates credentials committee
The Adamawa chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has inaugurated the Credentials Committee to conduct its elections.
News Men reports that Mr Yunusa Abdullahi is the Chairman of the committee, Gloria Abutu, Secretary, while Malam Umar Shallpella, a member.
Inaugurating the committee on Saturday in Yola, Mr Ishaka Dedan, Chairman of NUJ in the state, tasked the committee to conduct a free, fair and credible elections.
He advised the committee to abide by the constitution of the union for a successful election.
“We pray and appeal to you to organise a free, fair and credible election; you are now independent to immediately commence your work.
“And we are going to give you all the support to succeed in this assignment,” he pledged.
Dedan urged members of the union to conduct themselves in an orderly manner during the forthcoming election.
He said that, as mirror of the society, members of the union should be good examples for others to follow.
“NUJ must not die; on June 18, we are going to hand over to people that will take the union to the next level ,” he said.
Speaking, the chairman of the committee, thanked the union for the confidence reposed on them to carry out the assignment.
He promised to abide by the union’s constitution to conduct a peaceful and successful election.
He also promised to provide a leveled playing ground for all contestants vying for various position.
The chairman solicited the support and cooperation of all members before, during and after the election.
