Adamawa commissioner charges youths to shun drug abuse

Adamawa Commissioner for Information, Mr Umar Pela, has called on Nigerian Youths to shun drug abuse to build a fruitful future.

He told the Newsmen in Yola on Thursday that youths, as future leaders, should also strive to be creative, exploit their potentialities and plan to be employers of labour, rather than waiting for white collar jobs.

Pela said that the Adamawa State government already provided the enabling environment for youths in areas of entrepreneurship and other empowerment programmes to pave the way for their fruitful future.

“We have an empowerment programme that is structured to make the youth independent, self- employed and become employers of labour,’’ Pela said.

He observed that government alone could not provide for everyone, but could provide an enabling environment for people to exploit to their benefits

The commissioner reiterated the commitment of the state government to continue to empower youths, and urged them to take advantage of government’s commitment.
