The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa has assured all aspirants of free and fair primaries to enable them to succeed in the 2023 general elections.

Mr Ibrahim Bilal, the state APC Chairman gave the assurance at the stakeholders’ meeting in Yola on Wednesday.

The meeting was conveyed sequel to the allegations of replacement of delegates’ names.

“We have six gubernatorial aspirants, we sat and told them the process will be free and fair, and they have agreed.

“All the aspirants are moving round the state looking for delegates and primaries are going to hold on the decided day. It is going to be free and fair as the whole world will see it.

“Anyone of the six that wins, the five others will rally round him to take up the Adamawa Government House by 2023,” he said.

On alleged replacement of delegates, Bilal said that the party would not compromise in all cadres of election in the state.

He said that Dr. Ahmed Aminu, the leader, Panel for State Assembly and Special Delegates Conference had setup a seven-man committee to look into the allegation.

“We are updating the list ward by ward, anywhere we see there are discrepancies we enquire, because some of the delegates are executives and you cannot be an executive and delegate at the same time.

“So, where the substitution take place is genuine, two women must be represented and that is the list we agreed with the stakeholders, we are not going to compromise on that,” he said.

In his response, Aminu promised to maintain neutrality throughout the conduct of primaries in the state.

He said that the committee would work based on the set guidelines by the party stakeholders.

He assured that nobody would be short-changed during the exercise.
