Activists recount ordeal of Fulani Herdsmen brutalities
Some of the activists who were involved in the fight against Fulani herdsmen terrorising South-West Nigeria have continued to recount their ordeal in the hands of the terrorists.
While the terrorism persists, major activists have relapsed as they do not get government’s backing in their fight against terrorists
Speaking to NewsDirect, one of the activists, Adegbenro Salako said fighting the Fulani herdsmen terrorists was a war.
Salako recalled how he and his colleagues were almost killed while some ‘power to be’ among the Yorubas refused to support their struggle.
He recalled how one of his friends, Temitope Ayodeji Abioye, was almost killed but escaped.
“Abioye is an activist and a christian frontrunner in Ekiti Town and environ. We were both at protests during the end SARS saga but we narrowly escaped death. Due to his activities and protest against the Fulani Herdsmen, he would be put at greater risk which may be dangerous to his life and family, if he relocates back to Nigeria, because of his stand against right abuses by the Fulani Herdsmen; who have flocked in their numbers into his village and environs,” he stated.
He noted that after the EndSARS saga, Abioye was also involved in the fight against the Fulani Herdsmen who have been terrorising communities across South-West Nigeria.
It would be recalled that on the 5th of June 2022, some unknown gunmen attacked St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State and killed many worshippers.
One witness who gave his name as Abayomi told AFP news agency that over 20 worshippers died in the attack while about 50 people were hospitalized.
The attack was said to be masterminded by the Fulani Herdsmen.
These are some of the attacks on the innocent citizens by the Fulani Herdsmen.
However, hitherto, the reason for attacking the citizens remains unravelled as the federal government continues to fight the terrorists.
