The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has paid glowing tribute to the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness, retired Justice Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, as he clocks 85, describing him as an enduring symbol of unity, progress, and development in Northern Nigeria.

In a statement signed by the Forum’s National Publicity Secretary, Prof. T. A. Muhammad-Baba, the ACF celebrated the revered monarch for his life of dedicated service to the nation, particularly to the Arewa region and the Nigerian judiciary.

The Forum reiterated the Emir’s landmark contributions to the establishment and evolution of the ACF, noting that he chaired the foundational committee that birthed the socio-cultural body.

His visionary leadership, it said, helped position the Forum as the leading voice for the defence and advancement of Northern interests within the Nigerian federation.

“His Royal Highness belongs to that iconic category of fathers who gave their all to the people,” the statement read. “He remains an exemplar in service to humanity, worthy of emulation by those in positions of authority, especially during trying political, social, and economic times.”

Sulu-Gambari, a former Justice of the Court of Appeal, was praised not just for his judicial career but also for his consistent advocacy for peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and inclusive development across the North and the country at large.

The ACF further lauded the monarch’s humility, dignity, and unwavering commitment to the values of good governance, describing him as “quintessentially royal.”

“As he marks 85 glorious years, the entire Arewa region joins hands with grateful hearts to celebrate a royal father whose legacy will continue to inspire generations,” the Forum said, praying for more years of sound health and service to the people.

Justice Sulu-Gambari ascended the throne of the Ilorin Emirate in 1995 after a meritorious judicial career and has since remained a unifying figure and advocate for socio-cultural integration in Nigeria.
