Accident on Lagos-Ibadan expressway leaves 6 dead, 3 injured
In an accident on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway at Verony, Ogere, six people have been confirmed dead after a collision between a truck and a Toyota Sienna.
Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, confirmed the details in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Friday.
The crash occurred at 7:40 a.m. and involved a Toyota Sienna with the registration number EPE 692 EL and an unidentified truck that failed to stop at the scene.
Okpe reported that the accident was caused by excessive speed of the Sienna, which crashed into the rear of the moving truck.
The accident involved two men and seven women. Tragically, two men and four women lost their lives, while three women sustained injuries.
The injured were transported to Patmag Hospital in Ogere, and the deceased were taken to the FOS morgue in Ipara.
Sector Commander of the FRSC in Ogun State, Akinwumi Fasakin, commented that the crash could have been avoided with greater caution from the driver. He emphasized the need for drivers to focus on their driving and adhere strictly to traffic rules and regulations.
