
Access Bank finances Green Africa Airways’ aircraft acquisition
Access Bank has extended a naira-denominated debt facility to Green Africa Airways, a value airline based in Lagos, Nigeria, to partially fund its latest aircraft acquisition.
According to Omolora Kehinde, Green Africa Airways’ spokesperson and Brand Marketing Specialist, this financial backing marks a significant milestone in the airline’s mission to provide safe, affordable, and reliable air travel across the country. The move reflects Green Africa’s commitment to long-term sustainability and growth within the aviation industry.
The newly acquired aircraft, an ATR 72-500 with the manufacturer’s serial number 852 and registration mark 5N-GAB, is set to enter service following the completion of standard regulatory approvals.
Speaking on the acquisition, Babawande Afolabi, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Green Africa Airways, expressed enthusiasm over the development:
“We are pleased to take delivery of our very first aircraft, a major milestone for Green Africa. This aircraft will play a key role as we carefully advance into the next phase of our journey to offer safe, affordable, and dependable air travel to a wider customer base across the region.”

Having already established itself as a leader in on-time performance and cost-effective travel, Green Africa now aims to expand its footprint over the next decade.
