At the recent Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Association (REEEA-A) conference in Abuja, key stakeholders, including Access Bank, reaffirmed their commitment to advancing Nigeria’s journey toward achieving net-zero emissions.
Themed ‘Road to Net Zero: Actionable Initiatives for Success,’ the two-day event brought together government officials, industry experts, and civil society organisations to discuss pathways to tackle climate change while fostering a more affordable and resilient energy system.
During the conference, the Executive Director of Risk Management at Access Bank, Dr. Gregory Jobome, underscored the bank’s pivotal role in driving sustainable energy solutions.
“As a bank, our mission has evolved beyond conventional banking to embrace sustainability as a core business principle.
“This journey is not just about us funding individuals or organisations, it’s about all of us working together, co-creating solutions, and scaling up sustainable initiatives across Nigeria and Africa,” Jobome noted.
Representing Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, is the Deputy Director Owolabi Sunday who emphasised the urgency of transitioning to cleaner energy sources to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
The REEEA-A President, Magnus Onuoha, highlighted the association’s efforts in harmonising renewable energy policies and enhancing the quality of energy technologies.
He detailed the organisation’s achievements in regulatory support to both public and private sector clients, standardisation, and gender empowerment, underscoring their dedication to advancing renewable energy in Nigeria.
