Operatives from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have apprehended four individuals linked to a series of criminal activities troubling the area.
A statement released on Thursday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, indicated that the suspects are notorious kidnappers involved in multiple killings and abductions in the nation’s capital.
According to the statement, these suspects, suspected to be bandits, have “confessed their intentions to target various government institutions and estates within the FCT.”
SP Adeh identified the suspects as Yau Sani, also known as Baba (an ex-convict), Nuhu (alias Giwa), Kabiru Mohammed, and Yusuf Hassan. They were captured at their hideout in Sauka, Abuja, where they were “living among the general population.”
The suspects admitted to being responsible for the deaths of seven individuals who were kidnapped in the region.
“These gangs have launched attacks in Dakwa, Dawaki, Aco estate, Dupe Village, Zuma Rock, Kuchiko village, and various locations in Niger and Kaduna states,” she noted.
The suspects also guided police operatives to another hideout located in Gauraka Forest, Suleja, Niger State, where authorities discovered a significant cache of weapons.
“We recovered four AK-47 rifles, thirteen AK-47 magazines, and one hundred sixty-two rounds of 7.6 mm live ammunition,” the statement detailed.
