ABS striker, Oketade, leaves hospital after head injury

Bukola Saraki (ABS) Ilorin FC striker, Shola Oketade, who had an head collision with one of his opponents on Saturday has been discharged from the hospital.

The Team’s Doctor, Olusegun Osasona, confirmed this to newsmen on Tuesday in Ilorin.

It was reported that the goals from Kale Karatu in the 9th minute, Nelson Abiam in the 36th minute and Seun Owotuga and Maurice John in the 60th and 62nd minutes, respectively, condemned visiting G&K Shekarau FC of Kano to a 4-1 defeat.

Reports said that the match Day 11 2020/2021 Nigeria National League (NNL) was played at the Kwara Stadium Complex, Ilorin.

The doctor said the striker suffered moderate head injury secondary to collision.

Oketade was few minutes after was replaced and later taken to the Ilorin General Hospital for treatment where he was later discharged.

The striker said that he was graceful to God for sparing his life and thanked everyone for their support.

“This is one of those things we experience in football, but I thank God I’m alive to see another.

“I will rest for some days before I join up with the rest of squad, because the task ahead is huge and we must do this collectively,” Oketade said.

ABS, which is 5th on the log with 15 points from 11 games, will lock horns with Kogi United FC of Lokoja on Saturday in Ilorin.
