Abiodun: Our administration’s economic blueprint yielding fruits

The Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, has declared that his administration’s economic blueprint has begun to yield fruits as more businesses and factories have continued to spring up in different parts of the state.

The governor stated this at the 46th Annual Conference and Dinner/Awards of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN), held at the Shell Hall, MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos

Abiodun who was conferred with an Award of Excellence in Corporate governance (infrastructural development) said that his administration has positioned the state by providing the right environment to ease doing business, which has brought prosperity to the people.

Governor Abiodun who was represented by his deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, at the event with the theme, ‘National Debt Burden; Causes, Effects, and Realistic Economic Solutions’, said that “we are leveraging on our closeness to Lagos using the pull factor. It has been bearing fruits as new businesses and factories are coming in on a daily basis to our state. We are developing and constructing roads to encourage more investors to move around the State with ease”.

The governor, who highlighted some of the projects executed by his administration in the last three years, noted that the Ijebu-Ode-Epe, Sagamu-Suin- Abeokuta and Atan-Lusada-Agbara roads have been constructed, while the Cargo Airport currently under construction, would be commissioned before the end of the year.

While maintaining that his administration would continue to focus on strategies that would engender more development, he added that the Olokola Free Trade Zone would be developed in order to tap from its potentials.

The governor, however, thanked the Institute for the honour done him and the state, saying apart from being an inspiration for more work, the award is an indication that his administration has been appreciated and acknowledged.

He submitted that the state government would continue to partner the Institute for training and retraining of its work force.

The Guest of Honour and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, represented by Fuad Laguda, said the Institute, over the years, has distinguished itself through valuable contributions to the development of the nation through training and retraining of Nigerians in various sectors.

He challenged hr leaders and members of ICSAN to use their vast knowledge and experience in administration to formulate practical and applicable solutions that would help in solving the nation’s problems, including debt.

Gbajabiamila while expressing his belief in the mission and vision of the Institute, maintained that “there is still a lot of work to be done in realizing the dream of every Nigerian”, calling on members, as good ambassadors of the Institute to recruit and train the next generation to keep the flag flying.

The chairman of the dinner, Chief Yemi Adefulu, in his goodwill message, stressed the need for Nigerians to change their attitude towards locally produced goods, declaring that no economy can survive by depending solely on other countries.

In his welcome remarks, the President and Chairman of the Governing Council of ICSAN, Taiwo Owokalade, lauded Governor Abiodun for his efforts for bringing infrastructural development to every part of the state, noting that the cargo Airport would do Nigeria and the state a lot of good as it would take the load off Lagos air and sea ports.

He added that the Institute founded in 1870 has given much to the world since its inception, adding that governance is all about partnership between the public and private sector and that Ogun government has been able to synergize with the private sector to galvanize the industrial development of the state.

The Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi was also conferred with the award of Excellence in Corporate Governance at the occasion.
