Abiodun kicks off second term campaign in Imeko

…Promises establishment of Agric and technical colleges in the area

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has kicked off his second term in office with a promise to establish a College of Agriculture in Imeko in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area to leverage on the 370 square kilometers of forest reserves in the area.

The State government is also to establish a technical college to train the youth in various vocations to enable them contribute to the economy of the area and the State at large.

The State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun disclosed this when he kicked off the campaign for his second term at Imeko- Afon Local Government Area of the State.

The Governor noted that the people of the area are not smugglers has they are widely tagged, but people who go about their legitimate economic activities to make ends meet.

He said the College of Agriculture, apart from training  the people on agriculture and its value chain, would take advantage of the 370 square kilometers of forest reserves that abound in the area for the benefit of the State.

The Governor who was at Afon town in the same local council, approved the immediate construction of the Afon road, while an electric transformer was given to Ilara town to boost their power supply.

Prince Abiodun said the construction of the Oke Ola road in Imeko was in fulfilment of his electoral promise he made in 2918, assuring that his administration would focus attention on border roads in the axis in his second term in office.

“When I came here in 2018, I promise to construct road for you if I am elected. I have fulfilled my promise because we cannot promise what we can keep and we did not promise to do all. Imeko is very important to us and we will continue to ensure that this town gets its fair share in the scheme of things,” he assured.

Governor Abiodun reiterated that his government has contributed at least a road in each of the 20 local government areas in the State, noting that Imeko-Afon was very important to his administration and all efforts would be made to ensure that the people get the dividends of democracy.

Speaking earlier, the former Governor and grand Patron of the State APC Campaign Committee, Chief Olusegun Osoba, said his administration was able to provide electricity to the town and that the current administration has constructed road in the local government, hence, the need to return the ruling party to power for the second time.

The Senator representing Lagos West and Ogun West APC Senatorial District, Senator Olamilekan Adeola, said the Governor through his performance deserves a second term expressing confidence that the people would vote for the part in the forthcoming elections.

State Chairman of the party, Chief Yemi Sanusi was optimistic that the party would win, but stressed the need for the people to be conversant with the party logo as candidate’s photo would not be in the ballot papers.

Meanwhile, Governor Abiodun has approved the government take over and the total overhauling of a community run school, Ajoda Community High School,  Ilara in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area.

Governor Abiodun who gave the approval during an electioneering campaign at Ilara township said the intervention would afford the school the opportunity to enjoy government patronage and finance like other public schools in the state.

The Governor informed that his administration is committed to the development of education sector with the introduction of many programmes that have elevated standard of learning in the State’s public schools, pointing out that government has rehabilitated over 1,000 classrooms in both the primary and secondary schools and provided more than 25,000 furniture to create conducive environment for the students

While assuring the residents of more developmental projects, the Governor implored them to vote for candidates of All Progressives Congress, APC  during the forthcoming general election reiterating that his second term in office would usher in more dividend of democracy for the people of the state.
