Abiodun, Amosun in war of supremacy

By Bisi Adewumi

The immediate past Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosu has alleged that his successor, who is the incumbent, Prince Dapo Abiodun rigged his election in 2019 and deserves to be voted out at the polls come 2023.

Amosu claimed that those who were instrumental to the rigging have confessed and apologized to him, even though no name was mentioned.

The claim was made by the past Governor while receiving an award organized by the Abeokuta Club in commemoration of its 50th anniversary in a media chat.

He could not hide his feelings as he stated that the Governor is not doing enough for the state, and so, must vacate the seat at the expiration of his first tenure.

He went further to assure his supporters that his next line of action would be made known to the public.

The ex-governor talking about the responses he gets from his admirers said, “Well, I am happy. When you’re in a place and they’re telling you that you have done the work of four or five Governors altogether. I feel elated. I am happy that they appreciated our little efforts”

Amosu went on, “Just wait, very soon, you will hear where we are going next. Clearly you know my stand, and my stand is my stand. I am not supporting this administration that is there now. He must be removed”, he submitted.

In a swift reaction, Governor Dapo Abiodun declared that he refuses to be distracted by any person who has a problem with self delusion, that Ogun State is not anybody’s father’s inheritance.

Abiodun stressed that he would not join issues with anyone that wants to play God. He believes God has the capacity to deal with whosoever that’s challenging His (God’s) authority.

The Governor believes he stands for good governance, that’s committed to providing purposeful leadership and infrastructural development across the length and breath of the state. He noted that his administration would shun  campaign of discord in its entirety.

Abiodun was baffled at the allegation of rigging, querying its possibility, as it was against the incumbent then.

He stated that he is more concerned as a matter of urgency to prioritize the development of President Muhammadu Buhari Estate which he inherited from his predecessor.
