Abia state also denies receiving 20 trucks of rice from FG

The Abia State government, represented by Commissioner for Information Prince Okey Kanu, has refuted claims that it received 20 trucks of rice as part of the federal government’s palliative measures.

The commissioner stated that no such rice has been received and labeled reports of a 50kg bag of rice being sold for N40,000 as “fake news.” He emphasized that Abia State has not been contacted by the federal government regarding this matter and noted that if the palliative measures were legitimate, they would have been communicated officially to the state.

This denial follows similar claims from Edo and Adamawa States, which also stated they did not receive the rice. These reports have been met with controversy, with some officials suggesting that claims of rice distribution could be overstated or misrepresented.

The Niger Delta Minister, however, countered these denials, suggesting that the state governors might not be fully transparent about the distribution of aid.
