The Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress in Abia, Bishop Sunday Onuoha, has said that Saturday’s poll is about electing the best candidate as governor for the state.
Onuoha said this when the state chapter of the Youth Obidient Movement came to endorse his candidacy at a brief ceremony in his office at Vision Africa Radio, Umuahia on Thursday.
He said: “I wholeheartedly accept this honour and promise not to disappoint Abia people.
“I promise that I will be faithful to God and Abia people.
“I shall be obedient to God and faithful to Abia.
“Abia deserves the best and I have come from that angle of decency and character and my word
“Abia people would take my word as my bond that our resources and commonwealth shall be deployed to serve Abia and our people will be glad that a new Abia has come.”
The clergyman said that since Abia had been governed by a businessman, a technocrat and an academician without any meaningful development, “this is the time to hand Abia, God’s own state, to a man of God.”
He, therefore, urged the Abia electorate to troop out on Saturday and vote for him.
According to him, as businessman, technocrat and academician, I also have the additional quality of being a clergyman.
He thanked the group for finding him worthy of their endorsement and surprising him with a birthday cake to mark his 69th anniversary coming up on March 22.
Earlier, the Organising Secretary of the group, Mr Prince Adima, said they ensorsed Onuoha over other candidates because of his immense humanitarian and philanthropic gestures.
Adima also said that his choice was in recognition of his investment in the media in Umuahia that provided jobs for hundreds of Abia sons and daughters.
He said the group also wanted to reward him for openly campaigning for the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, in the March 25 poll.
