Abeokuta Jewels Lions Club presents new president, set project agenda for 2023/2024
The Abeokuta Jewels Lions Club, District 404B4, has elected a new president and other executive members, while declaring charity and community projects it intends to execute in its lion year 2023/2024.
Emerging as its new president is Lion Olushola Florence Modupe, NLCF, as the 8th president of the Club.
At the public presentation of of the new executives and declaration of its projects, in Abeokuta, capital of Ogun State, Olushola harped on the importance of charity in service to humanity.
Olushola quoted Dr Martin Luther king Jr, saying, “An individual hasn’t started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of humanity.”
According to her, Lions Club International “is an organisation to be associated with as we service humanity with our Time, Talent and Treasures. We take our true religion to be “kindness”.
She pleaded with well meaning Nigerians “to willfully donate” towards projects of the Club for the lion year 2023/2024, stating the projects to include drilling of borehole for a community, toilet facility to a school, donation of white boards and writing materials to public schools and empowerment programmes for youths.
“In lionism, we believe that by becoming an answer to someone’s prayer, we often find the answer to our own.
“As servant leaders that we are trained to be, we assure you of effective and judicious use of every donation,” she said.
Present at the occasion were dignitaries across Nigeria. The installation was supervised by Lion Samson Abodunrin PMJF, NLCF, District Governor 404B4. Others in attendance were the first Vice DG, Lion Taiwo Fatoki MJF, NLCF, the second Vice DG, Lion (pharm) Adebowale Afolayan MJF, NLCF, FDI and other cabinet members.
