Abductors of Ogun Pastor, Sunday School teacher demand N50M ransom

The gunmen who abducted the Assistant Shepherd, Oluwaseun Ajose of Celestial Church of Christ, Oshoffa Parish at Wasinmi, Ewekoro Local Government area of Ogun State as well as one Dagunro Ayobami, a Sunday School teacher with the church have reportedly demanded for N50M ransom.

The Assistant Shepherd, Ajose and the Sunday School teacher, Ayobami were reportedly abducted early Tuesday morning during the vigil held by the church.

The Shepherd of the church, Oluwatomisin Ehuwaojomo reportedly confirmed the incident in a telephone conversation

According to Ehuwaojomo, the abductors had called him and demanded a ransom of N50m for the release of the two abducted church workers.

The Shepherd, has however sought the support of the police and other security agencies in rescuing the victims.

He said he was not in the church when the incident happened, adding that he was sleeping in his room at the time.

He said, “When my Assistant Shepherd called me almost two hours after they left, the kidnappers refused to speak with me twice. But on third attempt, they spoke with me and demanded N50 million ransom.

“I told them that, I am a servant of God, nobody pays me a salary. I have spoken with the Ogun State Commissioner of Police. The command is on the matter.”

Meanwhile, the State Police Command says it has commenced manhunt for the abductors of the Assistant Shepherd and the Sunday school teacher.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi said,”It is true that two persons were abducted in a Celestial Church on Tuesday at Wasimi during a vigil.

“Our operatives are already on their trail, and we shall get them.”

Oyeyemi however reiterated that there is the need to inform the police of any vigil before-hand by any church. He said “this is to allow the police to provide operatives that will undertake visibility patrol around the church during vigil.”
