Abducted traveller rescued by Police in Osun

Osun Police Command has confirmed the release of a traveller, Yinka Okunade, abducted on Saturday by gunmen along Ife/Ilesha expressway in Osun State.

It will be recalled that the gunmen waylaid a commercial bus travelling along the expressway on Saturday, April 24, 2021, around 7:40 pm and abducted the passenger.

Nigerian NewsDirect gathered that local hunters and others security operatives were drafted to the bush to rescue the victim on Saturday night.

The police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola while confirming the release said the victim was released unhurt on Monday evening around 10 pm, adding that he has been reunited with his family.

In her words, “Due to intensive pressure on the kidnappers reported to have kidnapped one Mr. Okunade Yinka along Osu / Ife expressway on Saturday around 6:00 pm, I’m happy to inform you that the victim has been released yesterday night unhurt around 10:00 pm.

He has been united with his family this morning.”
