Abducted Anambra Commissioner, wife regain freedom

The abducted Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, Patrick Aghamba and his wife have regained their freedom.

Patrick and his wife were kidnapped last week Friday along the Edo-Kogi road on their way to Abuja to attend the wedding ceremony of Adaora, the daughter of the state governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo.

Patrick’s aide, ABK Offiah, who was travelling with them was, however, shot dead by the gunmen.

Confirming the release of the couple on Sunday, the Chief Press secretary to Governor Soludo, Christian Aburime, said  that Aghamba and his wife were released on Saturday night.

According to him, no ransom was paid for their release, that the release was achieved through divine intervention.

“The commissioner and his wife have been released by the special grace of God. We were able to secure his release and  no ransom was paid,” Aburime said.
