EFCC seizes luxury items, arrests 21 suspects for cyber fraud in Bauchi

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained 21 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud in Bauchi State.

The arrests, conducted by the commission’s Gombe Zonal Directorate, took place on Saturday, 15th March 2025, following intelligence reports on the suspects’ alleged cybercrime activities.

A statement released by the EFCC on Monday via X (formerly Twitter) confirmed that the individuals were apprehended at Kaure New Government Reservation Area and Awala, Maiduguri Road, Bauchi.

During the operation, the commission confiscated several luxury items, including a BMW car, a Toyota Camry, and electronic devices.

The EFCC underscored that the suspects would be prosecuted following the completion of investigations.

“The individuals were apprehended based on reliable intelligence regarding their suspected involvement in cyber-related offences at Kaure New Government Reservation Area (GRA), Bauchi, and Awala, Maiduguri Road, Bauchi State,” the statement read.

“Confiscated items included a BMW and a Toyota Camry, three PlayStation 5 consoles, 30 premium mobile phones, a flat-screen television, six Point-of-Sale (POS) machines, four iPads, and five laptops.”

“The suspects will be brought before the court as soon as investigations are finalised,” the EFCC confirmed.
