
EFCC apprehends 21 suspected internet fraudsters
Operatives from the Gombe Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 21 individuals suspected of involvement in internet fraud in Bauchi State.
EFCC spokesperson, Mr Dele Oyewale, confirmed the arrests in a statement released on Monday in Abuja.
According to Oyewale, the suspects were detained following credible intelligence indicating their participation in cyber-related fraudulent activities.
The arrests took place at Kaure New Government Reservation Area, Bauchi, and Awala, Maiduguri Road, Bauchi State.
Recovered items included a BMW car, a Toyota Camry, three PlayStation 5 consoles, 30 high-end mobile phones, a flat-screen television, six Point-of-Sale (POS) machines, four iPads, and five laptops.
Oyewale stated that the suspects would face legal proceedings upon the conclusion of the investigation.
