Woman cries out over threat to son’s life
A 70-year-old trader from Isua Akoko, Ondo State, has raised the alarm over multiple attempts on her son’s life, allegedly orchestrated by some unidentified men.
Mrs Egunjobi Olayemi explained that her 37-year-old son, Emmanuel, has been the target of several assassination attempts, a situation which is severely impacting her health. Speaking to newsmen at her residence in Isua, she revealed that both her and her son’s lives are now in danger due to the persistent threats from suspected assassins.
She called on security operatives to intervene, claiming that her late husband’s younger brother, Chief Olowoosebikan, is responsible for sending the assassins. According to her, the animosity stems from a disagreement between Emmanuel and his uncle after the latter allegedly introduced him to an occultic group.
“Security operatives should please come to our rescue as my late husband’s younger brother, Chief Olowoosebikan, is sending assassins to us because of a disagreement between him and my son when he introduced an occultic group to my son,” she said, expressing deep concern.
Mrs Egunjobi explained that the ordeal began in 2010 when Emmanuel sought financial assistance from his uncle, who is based in Omole Estate, Lagos. To her shock, she claimed her son was introduced to the Ogboni confraternity, an occultic group to which the uncle allegedly belonged.
“Emmanuel went to meet his uncle for help, but the man told him he would only assist if he joined the Ogboni confraternity. My son rejected this offer, and since then, his life has been in danger, with ongoing threats from his uncle,” she added.
The distressed mother revealed that Emmanuel has been living in constant fear and anxiety due to the escalating threats. She stressed that her son’s troubles began when he refused to join the occultic group in February 2010.
“The man, who is a notable personality in Lagos State, is using his influence to target my son for his alleged defiance. This situation has become worrisome,” she explained.
Despite reporting her brother-in-law’s actions to the police, Mrs Egunjobi claimed that no action has been taken, as authorities appear reluctant to confront the powerful individual behind the threats.
In 2013, Mrs Egunjobi revealed, Emmanuel was kidnapped by unknown assailants on his way home from work, tortured for four days before being released by one of the kidnappers.
She is now pleading for urgent intervention from security operatives to prevent further harm to her son, emphasising that she has been fasting and praying for his safety.
