NiDCOM resolved over  1000 petitions, facilitated diaspora investments in 5 years — Dabiri-Erewa

The Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has announced that the commission has successfully addressed over 1,000 petitions from Nigerians in the diaspora over the past five years. Additionally, NiDCOM has played a key role in facilitating the increase of diaspora investments in Nigeria.

Hon. Dabiri-Erewa made these remarks during a ceremony in Abuja to mark the fifth anniversary of NiDCOM’s establishment in 2019, under President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

Reflecting on the Commission’s achievements, Dabiri-Erewa expressed her gratitude for the progress made since its inception. She also acknowledged the commitment and sacrifices of the NiDCOM team, both past and present, and recognised the challenges they had faced, while expressing optimism for the future of the Commission.

Dr. Sule Yakubu Bassi, the Secretary to the Commission, highlighted the critical role played by NiDCOM staff in fostering diaspora engagement, attracting investment, protecting Nigerians abroad, and promoting Nigeria’s positive image. He noted the challenges NiDCOM had encountered but expressed confidence in its ability to continue delivering effective services.

Habibat Pat-Eluameh Esq., a former NiDCOM staff member, expressed pride in witnessing the Commission’s growth and shared optimism for its future success. Mrs. Halima Ajagbe, the Head of Administration, commended Hon. Dabiri-Erewa’s leadership and affirmed the staff’s commitment to working alongside top management to continue adding value to the Commission’s mission.

The event culminated in the presentation of awards and prizes to outstanding staff members, recognising their exceptional contributions to the Commission’s success.
