Jigawa State’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), is currently embroiled in internal tension as the state Secretary, Alhaji Muhammad Dikuma Umar, has called for calm and restraint following recent comments by the party’s state chairman.
The party’s secretary warned that such remarks, particularly those concerning political developments in the state, were merely personal opinions and not reflective of the party’s official stance.
In a statement issued to the press, Alhaji Dikuma Umar expressed concern over attempts to undermine the credibility of Governor Mallam Umar A. Namadi’s administration.
He pointed out that certain individuals, whom he described as “miscreants with personal agendas,” had been actively trying to belittle the Governor and the government’s efforts.
Umar stressed that these actions were detrimental to the party’s unity and the progress of the state.
“These individuals have long been known for their attempts to tarnish the image of our governor, but we will not allow their selfish interests to derail the good work being done by Governor Namadi,” said Umar.
He emphasized that wisdom and fairness should guide all party activities and governance decisions, ensuring that the party remains focused on the development of Jigawa State.
The secretary further advised the party’s chairman, Honourable Aminu Sani Gumel, to consult with the party leadership before making public statements, particularly those that could destabilize the party.
Umar also warned that any efforts to disrupt the state’s governance would not be tolerated, vowing that the party would respond swiftly and appropriately to such actions.
“We are watching closely and will respond to any group or individual attempting to undermine the efforts of the government,” Umar declared.
In his own statement, APC Chairman Aminu Sani Gumel also condemned the growing divisions within the party. Gumel warned that certain “enemies” of the APC were using both social media and mainstream platforms to spread divisive rhetoric and sow discord among party members.
He cautioned these individuals, many of whom are not even members of the APC, to desist from their actions or face consequences.
Gumel also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to Governor Namadi’s leadership, stating that his administration was a continuation of the successes achieved under the previous leadership of Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar.
He called on all party members to rally behind the governor and work together for the state’s progress.
As tensions rise within the APC, both leaders have called for unity and cooperation in order to avoid further fragmentation within the party.
They urged the people of Jigawa to support the governor’s vision for the state’s development, stressing that internal conflicts should not detract from the critical work ahead.
