Adamawa State Government has said the allegation that it deducted N40,000 from the October salary of every worker is untrue

The Adamawa State Government has said the allegation that it deducted N40,000 from the October salary of every worker is untrue.

“Contrary to reports, there was no blanket N40,000 deductions across the board,” the government said in a statement signed by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Humwashi Wonosikou.

The government said the ‘misinformation’ is intended to

misrepresent the government’s actions.

This is as the government admits certain deductions, which it says are accumulated legal commitments.

“We wish to clarify that these are statutory deductions in accordance with federal and state regulations,” the government said.

The government statement which was released Friday morning, highlighted the deductions as Income Tax under PAYE; National Housing Fund Contribution; and Adamawa State Health Insurance Contributory Scheme deduction.

“Your dissatisfaction regarding deductions from the October salaries result from unpaid contributory National Housing Fund, PAYE and the State Health Insurance Contributory Scheme for three consecutive months,” the government explained.
