The Association of Resident Doctors at Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (ARD-KWASUTH) has commended Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq for ensuring the prompt payment of the 2024 Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF), a crucial financial support for resident doctors in the state.

In a statement released on Sunday and signed by Dr. Usman Abubakar, President, and Dr. Audu Jiya, General Secretary of ARD-KWASUTH, the association expressed gratitude to Governor AbdulRazaq for his commitment to improving healthcare in Kwara State.

“This gesture further convinces us that health is indeed one of your major priority areas for the people of Kwara,” they said.

“We are happy KWASUTH is taking shape to take up the challenge of providing quality healthcare to the people of the state. In return, the doctors in KWASUTH are ready to provide these excellent services.”

The association also urged the governor to address the shortage of healthcare workers in KWASUTH, describing the issue as a pressing challenge.

“We know the shortage of health workers is now a national crisis, but that of KWASUTH has reached an alarming threshold,” they stated.

“However, we believe with you piloting the affairs of the state, we know that this particular challenge will soon be a thing of the past.”

The timely MRTF payment and ongoing support for resident doctors underscore the governor’s dedication to bolstering healthcare delivery in Kwara State.
