Traditionalists applaud Lagos LG boss for new building

The Council of Masqueraders in Agege community has hailed the local government chairman, Chief Ganiyu Egunjobi, for building new tradition houses for masquerades.

Chief Taiwo Akinremi, the Alagba of Agege, who led the delegation to the council secretariat on Wednesday, expressed gratitude to the chairman for the new traditional houses.

“We thank High Chief Egunjobi for constructing the new traditional houses, “Igbale Egun” in Agege and Ogba Ashade, within the council area.

“We also commend his outstanding performance, particularly his monthly financial support to struggling families and the recent distribution of free exercise books to public primary and secondary schools.

“We realise that such education gesture would help alleviate hardship for parents and also encourage the pupils and students.

“The new tradition houses will serve as an heritage in Agege at the same time ensure sustainability of our culture and tradition.

“This development will also give the masqueraders sense of belonging in the society and encourage them to perform well during the ‘Egungun’ festival.

In his remarks, the executive chairman assured the traditionalists of more support in the future.

Egunjobi who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Mr Oriade Ademola, commended the team for their appreciation.

He also called for the support of the traditionalists in order to improve the living standards of the community.

“This gesture demonstrates the positive impact of High Chief Egunjobi’s leadership on the community, fostering a sense of appreciation and cooperation between the council and the people of Agege,” he said.

The Newsmen reports that the members of the traditionalists delegation include Chief Mrs Nike Sulaimon, (Iya Agon), Niniola Kareem (Onishin ), Chief Ayinde Gbenga (Olori Odo), Chief keshinro Olatunji (Alase ), Apata ifaniyi (Aare), and Ishola Adigun (Ope).
