Ibeju-Lekki LG harps on clean environment, warns defaulters

Mr Sesan Olowa, Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area in Lagos State, has charged the residents  to embrace the council’s cleaner environment initiative for improved sanitation.

Olowa made the appeal during an interview with the Newsmen in Ibeju on Friday.

Olowa said that the council recently launched the use of tricycles (Keke Jaja) for refuse collection and  disposal on an effort to tackle indiscriminate waste disposal.

The chairman implored the residents to embrace the initiative and patronise the waste collectors  at homes, markets and other places.

He said that the council had also  partnered Lagos State Ministry of Environment and  Office of Drainage System to tackle dumping of refuse inside canals, on street junctions and on expressways.

He warned that the council would henceforth decisively deal with residents  indiscriminately disposing refuse.

“Therefore, resident should use the Jaja Tricycle to dispose their waste within the community to avoid punishment,” he said.
