Police raid drug den, arrest 40 dealers in Delta

The Delta State Command has apprehended 40 drug dealers at the Swees Spirit Hotel Junction in Asaba, the state capital.

The police, in collaboration with other security agencies, carried out the raid on Tuesday night. This operation was prompted by reliable intelligence about a known criminal hideout where illegal drug activities were prevalent, causing considerable harm to the community.

A security source revealed, “The operation, conducted with precision and thoroughness, led to the arrest of 40 individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.”

The suspects attempted to evade capture by fleeing into the storm drainage along Okpanam Road. However, the police’s swift and coordinated response led to their apprehension.

The source noted that this operation sends a strong message about the commitment of the security forces to combat drug trafficking and other criminal activities in the state. It aims to deter those who view engaging in such illegal activities as a routine business.

The source also emphasized that the government remains resolute in taking decisive actions to safeguard the safety and well-being of all residents of Delta State.

When reached for comment, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrests on Wednesday.
