Peter Obi in attendance as Onyeka Onwenu was laid to rest

Nigerian music legend Onyeka Onwenu, also known as the “Elegant Stallion,” has been laid to rest in Lagos. Onwenu, who passed away on July 30, 2024, at the age of 72, died at Reddington Hospital in Ikeja after collapsing at an event honoring Dr. Stella Okoli, the Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceuticals.

Her funeral service took place at the Fountain of Life Church in Ilupeju, Lagos, with a private burial following at a vault in Ikoyi.

Among the attendees at her funeral were Peter Obi, a former presidential candidate from the Labour Party, and Alex Otti, the Governor of Abia State.

Onwenu, renowned for her music career, was also a broadcaster, actress, politician, and activist. She leaves behind two sons.
