Police thwart kidnapping attempt in Katsina
The Katsina State Police Command has reported that it successfully thwarted a kidnapping attempt in Faru village, Jibia Local Government Area. The details were shared in a statement on Thursday by ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the Command’s Public Relations Officer.
According to Sadiq, at approximately 1:15 a.m. on August 29, 2024, the Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters received an emergency alert about a bandit attack in Faru village, where an attempt was made to abduct an individual. In response, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Jibia quickly assembled a combined team of police officers, Katsina State Community Watch Corps members, and local vigilantes to address the situation.
The coordinated response led to a fierce confrontation between the attackers and the team, resulting in the successful rescue of the kidnapped victim, who was unharmed. The assailants, injured during the encounter, fled the scene.
The police are now intensifying efforts to apprehend the escaped suspects.
Commissioner of Police Aliyu Abubakar praised the exceptional bravery and professionalism demonstrated by the operatives involved. He urged the officers to maintain their vigorous efforts in combating all forms of crime, particularly kidnapping and banditry, to ensure a safer Katsina State.
